Roman Regelman, BNY Mellon Head of Digital, Delivers Remarks at Third Annual Wealth Management ‘Game Changers’ Event

Investors and key influencers gather to celebrate women leading artificial intelligence revolution

At an event organized by BNY Mellon Wealth Management, Roman Regelman, BNY Mellon Head of Digital, joined as guest speaker to help kick off an evening of stimulating discussion, celebrating women who are leading the charge in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The event, held last Thursday evening in midtown Manhattan, was the third in a ‘Game Changers’ series organized by BNY Mellon Wealth Management, that recognizes women leaders who are challenging expectations and charting the future. “The amazing women gathered here this evening are among those changing the face of technology and digital. They are not only now involved in accelerating advances in AI, they are in many ways revolutionizing a field where women have largely been absent historically,” said Regelman.

Regelman reflected on learnings accumulated from the results-driven financial services enterprise transformations he has led during his career and how they can apply in helping BNY Mellon chart its digital future – a future where AI will play a critical role. “Our digital efforts cannot live in a silo,” said Regelman. “Both digital and physical must coexist in a single, collaborative ecosystem, where each informs the other, and makes the ecosystem more dynamic and productive.” He continued, “You see this with many successful institutions, some that may have started as physical enterprises, but then evolved their digital capabilities, or the opposite, where institutions were born as digital enterprises, and subsequently create complimentary physical presences. To be world-class today, you need to do both well, simultaneously.” Regelman further stressed the importance of embarking on this journey side-by-side with clients. “Clients know best, in what it takes to run their businesses,” he added. “It’s critical that we work together closely in re-thinking and re-imagining the products and services we can deliver, such as creating new insights from the abundance of shared data.”

The main event for the evening was a panel discussion joined by several women executives in AI who are successful leaders and researchers in the field, who spoke of their own personal journeys and important career lessons learned. During his remarks, Regelman spoke about the changing face of technology and digital at BNY Mellon and the importance of the work women executives at BNY Mellon are leading. He specifically noted the mission-critical work that BNY Mellon Chief Information Officer Bridget Engle is leading with the Technology organization to strengthen the resiliency of the bank’s systems, infrastructure and applications. He added, “Together, Bridget and I are collaborating in building the leading client-focused digital products and services that will power BNY Mellon’s next chapter.”

Regelman concluded, “This is an outstanding event tonight bringing together top entrepreneurial women in banking and technology. Thank you for changing our universe and all things digital.”
