BNY has been serving clients in Australia for more than 50 years, establishing a physical presence in 1975. BNY maintains offices in Sydney and Melbourne, and continues to be a source of innovation and positive change for the region.

Established BNY’s first physical presence in Australia with representative offices in Melbourne and Sydney.
1993
Launched Insight Investment in Australia to support clients with currency risk management.
1996
Appointed by one of Australia’s Big Four banks as global custodian for all foreign assets.
2004
Pioneered interest rate and inflation derivative strategies to hedge pension liability risk.
2005
Launched Corporate Trust services in Australia.
2009
Obtained a license to operate as a Foreign Authorized Deposit‑Taking Institution.
2009
Expanded Depositary Receipt programs for corporates and financial institutions.
2015
Launched data and analytics solutions, including investment accounting and performance measurement.
2017
Expanded Global Markets capabilities with liquidity, financing, and execution solutions.
2018
Selected to provide ETF services for The Perth Mint Physical Gold ETF.
2019
Chosen by Victorian Funds Management Corporation to support its data transformation strategy.
2020
Appointed trustee for the Australian Office of Financial Management’s forbearance vehicle.
2021
Acquired Milestone Group to enhance digital and technology capabilities.
