The fund, which is facilitated by the Nevis Historical & Conservation Society, helps support high school students in Nevis.
The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (“BNY”) (NYSE: BK), a global financial services company, has contributed a grant to the Alexander Hamilton Scholarship Fund, which has been providing educational resources to underserved high school students in Nevis since 1965. The fund is facilitated by the Nevis Historical & Conservation Society, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the natural and cultural heritage of Nevis, the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton.
The BNY grant will help students purchase school supplies and cover other study-related needs to help advance their education.
“Alexander Hamilton, the founder of BNY, went to college on a fund created by Nevis benefactors,” said Cathinka Wahlstrom, Chief Commercial Officer at BNY and an executive sponsor of the grant. “We’re proud to contribute to the Alexander Hamilton Scholarship Fund and help further the studies of Nevis students, just as Hamilton was supported three centuries ago.”
“The Alexander Hamilton Scholarship Fund aims to alleviate financial barriers to education and learning, while honoring Hamilton’s legacy of hard work, diligence and discipline,” said Terysia Herbert, Director of the Nevis Historical & Conservation Society. “We are deeply appreciative of BNY's support of this initiative, which has had a profound impact on the youth of Nevis over the years.”
