BNY Mellon Leaders Recognized by American Banker on 2022 Most Powerful Women in Banking List

American Banker has named Emily Portney to its Most Powerful Women in Finance list for the third year running and the late Paulette Mullings Bradnock, former Chief Auditor, to its Most Powerful Women to Watch list for the sixth consecutive year.

Having run both businesses and client-relationship organizations, Emily Portney, chief financial officer of BNY Mellon, brings a well-rounded vision to her oversight of the firm’s finance functions, which include tax, treasury, capital management, and investor relations—where she regularly articulates and advocates the value of the franchise to the public. Portney is a tireless advocate for talent development and her professional advancement initiatives have resulted in a considerable increase in the diversity of the finance organization over the last year. A versatile leader, Portney will soon transition to a new role with BNY Mellon, where she is set to lead the company's Treasury Services, Credit Services, and Clearance & Collateral Management businesses.

Since joining BNY Mellon in 2015, Paulette Mullings Bradnock played a major role in contributing to the firm’s legacy of trust, innovation and resilience. Over her 38-year career, Paulette was a trailblazer in the industry as the first woman and first Black Chief Auditor in BNY Mellon's history. Paulette consistently sought to create opportunities for others and was a tireless advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion. She also had a passion for mentorship and enjoyed sharing her knowledge and experience with younger colleagues. As the leader of Internal Audit, Paulette was an innovator. She recently spearheaded efforts to use technology to streamline and automate the audit process at BNY Mellon, which included using robotics to conduct testing and perform administrative tasks. She was a longtime “Most Powerful Women in Banking” honoree, and was featured on the cover in 2019.
