BNY Mellon Donates $100,000 to Non-Profit Organizations Following Tragedy in Pittsburgh

Today BNY Mellon reported that it will donate $100,000 to non-profit organizations in the wake of the senseless and tragic events at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. BNY Mellon is donating $50,000 to the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and $50,000 to the Anti-Defamation League.

BNY Mellon employees are also able to contribute to these or other organizations through the firm’s community giving program, which provides a 100 percent match for donations to approved charitable organizations for eligible employees.

In addition, the sign atop BNY Mellon Center will remain blue, the color of divinity in Judaism, for eleven nights in honor of the eleven victims.

“As a community, BNY Mellon has not and will not tolerate intolerance in any way,” said Charles W. Scharf, Chairman and CEO of BNY Mellon. “Pittsburgh is an incredibly strong and close-knit community. We join our Pittsburgh colleagues in mourning those who lost their lives and in keeping all affected by this senseless tragedy in our thoughts and prayers.”
