ANNUAL INVESTMENT CONFERENCE 2026

Uncharted Territory

How Emergent Technology Is Changing Everything Except for the Fundamentals

Corinthia Hotel, London | 19th May | 09:30 – 16:30

The investment landscape is shifting as AI, automation and digital connectivity accelerate change. Such progress brings genuine opportunity—along with hype and noise. In 2026, the central question is how to separate what is enduring from what is fleeting.

Fundamentals provide the compass: the relationship between earnings and valuation, balance sheet strength, liquidity, and downside risk. Technology can refine the instruments we use, but navigation still relies on time tested principles.

At this year's Investment Conference, BNY specialists and guest speakers will discuss how emergent technologies are reshaping competitive dynamics, sector economics and capital allocation, along with how investors can apply a fundamental lens to manage risk and capture growth amid a complex and ever-changing geopolitical backdrop.

Join your peers to debate the opportunities and the guardrails—so one can be better prepared for an evolving cycle without losing sight of what ultimately drives returns.

Boardroom sessions

Jon Bell, Portfolio Manager, BNY Investments Newton

Artificial Intelligence now dominates stock markets. The top 10 US stocks represent over 25% of global market cap and excluding them from a global portfolio
leads to a tracking error of 5%. What’s more, these stocks trade at a significant premium to the market. The valuation gap hasn’t been this wide since the late
1990’s during the last NASDAQ bubble. Both valuation and concentration risks are high. Only a clearly defined process with a focus on rigorous valuation
discipline can afford to take the “risk” of not owning these companies. Jon will present a session on how maintaining a disciplined income-based approach

can help to mitigate benchmark risk. He will explore how focusing on fundamentals can continue to underpin success by balancing innovation with reliable
income generation to both generate returns and provide genuine diversification benefits.

Ella Hoxha, Head of Fixed Income, Co-head of Real Return, BNY Investments Newton

In a market marked by higher base rates, inflation, and volatility, traditional portfolio strategies face new challenges. Ella will examine how these conditions
necessitate rethinking equity valuations and portfolio construction, while highlighting the continued value of bonds through a more nuanced fixed income
approach. She will also emphasize the rising importance of currencies and commodities for diversification and risk management, demonstrating that despite technological disruption, core investment principles remain essential for navigating today’s complex economic environment.

David Cumming, Head of Equities, BNY Investments Newton

David will focus on how the AI revolution improves his investment process in terms of analysis, but also ,importantly, what does not change and what now becomes more important in making positive differentiated investment decisions. He will also discuss how we seek to capitalise on new investment opportunities as well as mitigating the new potential investment threats and risks that come with the AI revolution. Finally he will look at what this means for UK equities . Is the UK market still a relative winner from here and where have we changed positioning within the portfolio to take full financial advantage of the hopes and fears surrounding the AI debate. Who do we think are the real winners and the real losers.

Paul Flood, Head of Multi-Asset & Charities, BNY Investments Newton

Technology is revolutionising markets at an unprecedented pace, yet the core tenets of investing remain reliable guides. Join Paul as he delves into how
multi-asset portfolios can help provide adaptability and resilience amid this transformation. Learn how diversifying across asset classes can help
advisers mitigate risk, seize new opportunities, and deliver steady results for clients navigating the complexities of a rapidly evolving investment
environment.

Zoe Kan, Portfolio Manager, BNY Investments Newton

Zoe will cover the dynamic world of Asian equity income and growth investing, highlighting how enduring investment principles remain vital amid rapid
market evolution. This session offers practical insights into identifying income sources and growth prospects within emerging markets. Attendees will
gain a nuanced understanding of Asian growth prospects and how to position portfolios to capitalise on these opportunities while adhering to proven
fundamentals.

Bhavin Shah, Portfolio Manager, Mixed Assets and Charities Team, BNY Investments Newton & Paul Byrne, Quantitative Analyst and Portfolio Manager,
Quantitative Equity Team, BNY Investments Newton

The pace of change is relentless-AI, automation, and global instability are reshaping markets daily. How can investors seize opportunity without losing
balance? Bhavin and Paul will explore how volatility managed multi-asset strategies can be used to navigate what is likely to be a more volatile and
fragile investment environment. This session will deliver actionable strategies to build resilient portfolios that thrive amid uncertainty without losing
sight of the principles that underpin long-term success.

John Bailer, Deputy Head of Equity Income, Portfolio Manager, BNY Investments Newton

Marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, BNY Investments Newton draws on Hamilton’s vision of capital serving commerce to
navigate a tech-driven market transformed by Artificial Intelligence-while staying true to their enduring philosophy. In 2026, Main Street’s fundamentals
outshine Wall Street’s tech hype, with parts of the sector overvalued and active management crucial to distinguish signal from noise. John Bailer will
explain why the BNY Mellon US Equity Income approach remains simple and resilient: disciplined valuation, strong balance sheets, improving business
momentum, and careful downside risk management. The strategy focuses on everyday economy leaders with resilient cash flows and disciplined dividend
policies, emphasising dividend growth and yield to compound returns across cycles. American innovation provides momentum, fundamentals guide the way,
and reliable dividends bridge income generation with inflation protection.

John Rae, Client Investment Manager, Walter Scott

AI-related mega-caps have dominated index returns, widening gaps between the largest companies and the rest of the market. Yet many high-quality
businesses benefit from AI in more diversified, durable ways.

Walter Scott’s John Rae challenges binary narratives about technology and wider global progress, drawing on Hans Rosling’s book ‘Factfulness’ to show why
nuance matters in a multi-polar world. Equity investors must therefore ‘mind the gap’. Whether it’s the latest technology, sector or style, extremes rarely tell
the full story. The truth is usually more nuanced, and the golden rule remains unchanged: fundamentals – not narratives – drive long‑term equity returns.

Damien Hill, Senior Portfolio Manager, Insight Investment

In today’s market, where absolute yields remain attractive but credit spreads are tight, fixed income investors need strategies that move beyond traditional
benchmarks. This session will highlight Insight’s flexible approach – how we uncover value across regions and sectors, manage risk in an environment of
compressed spreads and rising AI-driven issuance, and position portfolios to seize the best opportunities across global fixed income markets.
Join us to learn how flexibility can open new pathways to resilient returns in the years ahead.

Adam Whiteley, Portfolio Manager, Insight Investment

In 2025, heavy government bond issuance kept absolute yields elevated, while strong investor appetite compressed credit spreads. That dynamic is now
changing. Rising financing needs for AI-related capital expenditure are increasing supply and bringing previously rare issuers to the market. As markets
adjust, we expect yields to settle into a higher range, supported by solid fundamentals. In this session, Insight examines how to balance risk management
with the pursuit of opportunity in this evolving environment. The credit team will share their approach to identifying relative value and building resilient
portfolios – highlighting strategies that enable investors to capture attractive yields without taking unrewarded risk.

Uli Gerhard, Senior Portfolio Manager, High Yield, Insight Investment

Short-dated high yield stands out as a powerful way to capture a high level of income while limiting interest rate risk. By exploiting the steepness at the
front end of yield curves, these assets can deliver attractive returns without excessive duration exposure. This session will examine opportunities and
risks from the AI boom – where a wave of new issuance in high yield markets is creating new opportunities, but cash flow discipline is critical. We also
discuss why an active approach with an eye on tangible cash flows is more important than ever as AI disrupts traditional business models. Insight’s
global short-dated high yield approach combines rigorous risk management with high-conviction ideas, making it ideal for this new environment.
For investors seeking high yield exposure with minimal interest rate risk, we’ll explain why floating-rate structures can offer an attractive solution –
providing the potential for high income with minimal volatility.

Julie Best, Director, NextWealth

Recent tax and policy changes have reignited debate about the role of pensions in retirement planning. But for advisers, the bigger challenge is not
technical change; it's helping clients make sense of retirement itself. Based on new research from BNY Investments and NextWealth, Julie Best will
explore how advisers are navigating longer decision cycles, emotionally loaded conversations and growing expectations around evidencing outcomes.

The value of investments can fall. Investors may not get back the amount invested. Income from investments may vary and is not guaranteed.
