What Is Mobile Banking?
Mobile Banking is a 2 way channel between mobile devices and BNY which supports existing software and standard mobile capabilities. You can access Mobile Banking thru the Mobile Banking Application (App), the Mobile Banking Optimized Website or SMS Text Banking
What is Mobile Banking Application?
Mobile Banking Application (App) is a secure, encrypted App that can be downloaded to a client’s mobile device (ie. iPhone, iPad, Android) allowing access to their banking accounts via the Mobile Banking Service.
What is Mobile Banking Website?
Mobile Banking Website is a concept which is similar to that used in Online Banking which allow users access using a mobile web compatible browser on their mobile device (ie. Blackberry).
What is SMS Text Banking?
Text Banking gives you access to your accounts via text (SMS) messages on your phone. It's a fast, easy way to look up account balances or review account history by sending a text command to a shortcode.
How much does this service cost?
There is currently no charge associated with the service. However, there may be charges associated with text messaging and data usage on your phone. Check with your wireless phone carrier for more information.
Is it secure?
The Mobile Banking service utilizes best practices from Online Banking, such as HTTPS, 128-bit SSL encryption, or password access and application time-out when your phone is not in use. Only the phones that you personally enroll in the service can access your accounts. In addition, no account data is ever stored on your phone. And in the event your phone is lost or stolen, the service can be immediately disabled by either accessing the Mobile Banking Center from your computer or calling us at 1-800-880-5631.
Do I need a text message or data plan?
Yes, a text messaging and/or data plan is typically needed. Please check with your wireless carrier for more information.
Which wireless carriers are supported?
Supported US wireless phone carriers include but are not limited to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon.
I'm not enrolled for Online Banking. Can I still use this?
You must first enable your bank account(s) for Online Banking before you can access the Mobile Banking service.
How do I enroll for Mobile Banking?
To enroll for Mobile Banking thru a downloadable Mobile Banking application, please visit the App store on your Mobile Device to download the BNY Private Banking Mobile app. Once the app is downloaded and installed on your Mobile device, enter your User ID and Password. As part of our multi-layered approach to authentication, an Out-of-Wallet Question Quiz can quickly authenticate identity prior to accessing account information. The mobile web browser will generate a real-time, multiple-choice questionnaire using personal background information that only the applicant would know. The client will also be required to enter their phone number.
To enroll for Mobile Banking thru the optimized website browser , enter your User ID and Password. To enroll for Mobile Banking SMS Text Banking, sign in to Online Banking on your computer and go to Customer Service > Manage Mobile Banking Settings. Enroll your mobile phone and follow the instructions provided on the web page. An activation code is issued to you on the online enrollment site. You will need to enter this code on your device to begin Text Banking

The benefits of Mobile Banking are convenience, secure access, easy navigation and improved money management.
What is the Text Banking shortcode?

NOTE: You can check for additional available commands by activating your phone and sending C to 79680.
Is Text Banking supported on my phone?
Text Banking will work on any text message (SMS) capable phone from one of our supported carriers.
Will I receive unsolicited text messages?
No. You will only receive messages when you specifically request them with one of the Text Banking commands.
Can I use both Text Banking and Mobile Banking on my phone?
Yes both services can be used on your phone
Lost or stolen mobile phone and/or device?
Immediately contact BNY at 1-800-880-5631. Or you can sign in to Online Banking and go to Customer Service > Manage Mobile Banking Settings > Disable or Remove Device
If you find your mobile device later, you can re-enroll that same mobile device and number.
