At BNY Mellon, diversity is our differentiating strength. We seek out who is missing, strive to help everyone feel included and invest in each other’s success. One way we celebrate what makes us unique and our diverse backgrounds is through observances like Hispanic Heritage Month, which is recognized in the U.S. from September 15 through October 15 each year to honor the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
Today, Monday, September 27, select members of BNY Mellon's Latinx Leadership Forum will commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month 2021 by virtually participating in the closing bell ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange. We are proud that these individuals are able to represent the rich diversity of cultures and contributions of each of our valued Latinx employees across the country.
In today's complex financial world, we must explore each challenge by approaching it from multiple perspectives. Diversity, equity and inclusion continue to be a strategic priority as we look forward. BNY Mellon has committed to representation goals for greater progress in our most underrepresented talent populations by year-end 2023, including achieving a 15% increase in Latinx representation and a 30% increase in Latinx representation of Senior Leaders.
To join us in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, we invite you to visit BNY Mellon's Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month 2021 webpage to learn the stories of four of our Latinx leaders and the experiences they bring to BNY Mellon.
