The Bank of New York Company, Inc. to Present at Merrill Lynch Banking and Financial Services Investor Conference

NEW YORK, N.Y., November 14, 2003 - The Bank of New York Company, Inc. announced today that Thomas A. Renyi, chairman and chief executive officer, and Bruce W. Van Saun, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer, are scheduled to present at the Merrill Lynch Banking and Financial Services Investor Conference at 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, November 19, 2003, at The Pierre Hotel in New York City.  The presentation will include information about the Company’s businesses, recent financial performance and future outlook.

In addition, Thomas J. Perna, senior executive vice president, will participate in a panel discussion on outsourcing services on Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at 2:50 p.m. ET.  This presentation may also include forward looking statements.
